Washington, D.C. | Arlington, VA | Chevy Chase, MD | Vienna, VA | Tyson's Corner, VA | Falls Church, VA | Dulles, VA Welcome to Washington, D.C.Sometimes you don't want to spend thousands of dollars in closing costs and assume the high costs of home maintenance. Sure, if you're going to stay somewhere for a few years you should probably buy if you can, but if you're just going to stay in the house for a year or two, renting the home may make the most sense. When you rent, be sure to check out the party you are renting from. Generally, property management companies or individual owners who are real estate agents will be more responsive to your needs and maintenance requests. Their activities in many states are regulated by law. But if you rent from an individual, unlicensed owner, you may find they are not as knowledgeable about property management or landlording, and they may not be held to as high a standard of law with regard to possible lawsuits. An individual owner may not be required to keep your security deposit separate, for example. When searching for a home to rent, give strong consideration to leasing a home listed with a professional property management company. The best way to find a good home to rent is either to secure the services of a Realtor, or to search yourself via online advertisers. Most listed rentals are available online now, and in many parts of the country online internet ads are more economical and effective than newspaper ads. Check both to find a home for rent.
